There are two issues associated with the reprocessing of PPE. The first is regulatory, the second is the practicality. To get anywhere near applying for approval to reprocess PPE one needs to confirm that the sterilisation method works but does not damage the PPE itself. The latter is a major issue with the common methods used in healthcare establishments. We believe we have come up with a solution to this. One of our members Dr Derek Wardle has invented a process that not only provides sterilisation, but also does not affect the PPE itself – but even better can be built into a simple tumble dryer. This device could save the NHS millions, but also negate the use for waste processing at the current levels.
